Although the restaurants in South Korea have been open for a while, the sudden rise in the number of COVID19 cases shows that gatherings should still be limited. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have announced what restaurants would look like should they reopen. Since restaurants are where people remove their face coverings to eat and drink, this public place should be opened with more care. What CDC suggests is here in this link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/organizations/business-employers/bars-restaurants.html
According to the CDC, all staff at the restaurants should be trained to wear face coverings at all times. Also, they must wash their hands frequently and place hand sanitizers on every table. They suggest reducing the shared objects, ventilate frequently, and disinfect where people touch regularly at least daily. More specifically, they call on the customers to raise their hands to signal the waiters instead of pressing the buzzers. I was literally just thinking about this! Case numbers aren't too high here in Saudi Arabia, but I'm still surprised by the ease with which people go out to eat. Popular restaurants have seen massive lines and spaces so crowded that it is impossible to maintain physical distancing.
It's interesting because Saudis love going out to eat. It's a very cherished tradition, and I think it's been one of the things that many people have missed during the pandemic. Another point is that entertainment options in my region of the country are scarce, so going to a restaurant is honestly one of the only things you can do for fun on a weekend night.
